Imagine a scenario in which a woman is being beaten by her husband. If she starts a foundation that attempts to save women from being abused, would you accuse her of “being too focused on beating women,” or suggest that she “must be the real wife-beater because she literally made an entire charity based on it”?

If you think I’m straw-manning your argument, please explain why you think someone saying, “This movie has identity politics in it at the expense of the story and characters” is tantamount to a general “focus” on race.
